WHAT IS COLOR?
Color is the visual property deriving from the light all around you.
AND HOW DO YOU USE IT?
I use it in all aspects of life but most of the time the goal is to create something beautiful or visually appealing. Whether I'm constructing a garment, picking out what clothes to wear, or I'm making a meal, color always seems to be a defining factor. Without color things tend to look unappealing or bland. With that being said I think color is one of those things that gives meaning to life itself.
WHAT INFLUENCES YOUR WORK?
Whatever I find fascinating at a specific point in time. Some days I'm infatuated with a particular color while others I'm more so paying attention to shapes. I take whatever is on my mind for the day and I take it to my sketch book. I sketch over and over and looks at things from different angles until things make sense.
HOW DO YOU APPROACH DESIGN?
I like things to come to me as naturally as possible. I like to be doing something I enjoy such as go out to nature preserves or watching travel videos and I see something that inspires a design. I immediately start sketching because I like to keep my sketchbook nearby in case of sudden inspiration. After several sketches I narrow it down to a few that I like then finally the best one. After that I get the materials and begin the sample making process.
WHY FASHION?
Fashion is a part of everyday life, it's an art form that can't be ignored and it's essentially always right in your face. Some people choose to ignore it while others choose to embrace it. I'm simply one of those people who chose to embrace it and because of that fashion has become a positive influence in shaping the person I am today.
